Visualizing sustainable milling innovation for FixChip
A Sustainable Alternative
FixChip is redefining how furniture is assembled by offering a sustainable woodfibre alternative to plastic connectors and screws or nails. Instead of visible components, FixChip enables a clean and seamless look by using specially milled holes in – for example – triplex wood. The milling process occur in a single production run, creating an invisible, sustainable and efficient connection inside the furniture.
Creating the Digital Twins
To explain this innovative process, a digital twin of the FixChip and the two mills were modified. Through high-end 3D animation, the renders showcased every detail of the part while also illustrating how it is placed inside furniture panels. The milling and placement process was visualized clearly—without showing a physical milling machine—allowing viewers an unobstructed perspective that video recordings could never provide.
Showing the Milling Attachments
In addition, FixChip offers two unique milling attachments, which were also brought to life in animation. By isolating the tools from the machinery, the animations highlighted their form, function, and movement in full clarity.
On the Trade Show Floor
The video was displayed prominently on a trade show floor screen, rendered in both widescreen and portrait format for maximum visibility. Beyond moving image, the 3D renders were also repurposed for print banners, made possible by rendering them at extremely high 300 DPI resolution.

The result is a visual story that demonstrates the simplicity and elegance of the FixChip system. Through 3D animation, potential customers and partners gain a clear understanding of how the technology works and why it represents a smarter, more sustainable way to build furniture.
